Child Care Director

Director Position Open at Camp Jorn YMCA Childcare & Preschool- located in Manitowish Waters, WI, is now accepting applications for the position of Director.
Our year-round childcare program is located on the Camp Jorn YMCA property and offers a play-based curriculum that nurtures each child’s social, emotional, physical, and academic development.
Our services cater to children aged 12 weeks to 5 years.
In addition to this we also provide before- and after-school care and summer preschool programing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.
Manages, directs and coordinates the child care programs for children ages 3 months thru 12 years of age.
Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
2.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
3.
Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position.
Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
4.
Completes all grants available for Child Care support through the State of WI and elsewhere.
5.
Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
6.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
7.
Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Maintains relationship with WI Registry contact and the Registry profile.
8.
Maintains proper records/department files.
9.
Maintains confidentiality of children, children’s records and family information.
10.
Organizes special events for parents.
11.
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
12.
Plans and implements monthly staff meetings.
13.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
14.
Compiles program statistics.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
15.
Work as classroom teacher 20-30 hours per week as needed or when designated dual role director/teacher, work 30 hours per week as lead teacher and 10 hours per week administration.
16.
Completes minimum of 25 hours continuing education (including abuse and neglect training every 2 years).
17.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of two courses for credit in early childhood education required.
2.
Minimum of 1 year experience as a manager or 1 credit or noncredit department approved course in business or program administration.
3.
Minimum of 1 year experience as child care director or child care teacher in licensed child care center or kindergarten.
4.
Be at least 21 year of age 5.
Current certifications of CPR; First Aid; AED certification within 2 months of hire date.
6.
A certificate from The Registry indicating a Level 12 or above.
7.
Certification in Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention training.
8.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
9.

Camp Jorn YMCA / Child Care Department Department Annual Budget – Child Care Center budgeted expenses are $425,000.
Offset by earned registration income of $260,000 plus grants, special events and annual contributions.
