2024! The Food Service Technician supports both patient and retail food and nutrition services, including food production, cashiering, patient food service support and sanitation.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
This is a non-exempt position.
RESPONSIBILITIES Food Production • Prepares salads/desserts in a timely manner that are fresh, attractive, garnished.
• Weighs or measures all ingredients accurately, and follow directions in recipes for standardization of quality in dessert productions.
• Assists with catering events, prep, set-up, delivery and breakdowns.
• Replenishes condiments.
Checks condiments and wash chemicals, inventory daily.
Notes on purchasing order any supplies needed to maintain a smooth operation of tray-line.
• Set up desserts, salads, condiments, paper goods, china, serving utensils, etc.
, so that cafeteria line is ready to provide services on schedule.
• Replenishes salads, entrée, condiments and desserts on services line as needed to assure an appealing selection of foods is displayed.
• Reviews production sheet and utilizes standardized recipes consistently.
Patient Food Service Support • Assembles patient meal trays.
• Checks each tray for completion and assures that every item on patient’s menu is what patient requested.
• Exercises caution when pushing cart to floors, so that spilling or breakage can be avoided.
• Prepares and delivers patient nourishment and snack as requested and ordered.
Sanitation • Rotates all products used for salad and dessert preparations, and complies with established health and sanitation regulations.
• After each meal, disposes of trash in compactor, and follows sanitary procedures in cleaning dish machine, tray racks, walls, and floors.
• Returns soiled trays to dish room after each meal.
• Adheres to dishwashing procedures and maintains clean and sanitized areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes for salad and desserts daily.
• Racks and pre-rinses all dishes and trays in a careful manner before placing in dishwashing machine.
Checks temperature and washing chemicals to assure that dishes are being sanitized.
Bleaches plastic side dishes and cups as necessary.
• Cleans counter daily.
Empties, sanitizes beverage and coffee equipment.
Cleans all tables and chairs and arranges them in a neat manner.
Cashiering and Serving • Assists with cashiering and serving when needed.
Must be courteous and accurate.
• Serves food portions in a neat manner and displays a courteous attitude toward all customers.
• Assists in serving cafeteria food and operating cash register.
Must be consistently accurate in following procedures.
• Exercises accuracy and speed.
Prepares daily sales and customer counts report, if applicable.
Secures cash deposits and maintains daily log of total cash sales, if applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Commercial food service/cashiering experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Be able to organize work, and have knowledge of commercial food sanitation policies and procedures.
• Must be able to make mathematical calculations to effectively make appropriate change.
• Must be able to read and write English to follow direction and work safely.
