POSITION SUMMARY: The Marathon County District Attorney’s Office is committed to strengthening law enforcement’s relationship with the public; enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Marathon County; and ensuring that crime victims be treated with sensitivity, fairness, compassion, and respect.
Over the course of the summer, the administrative support position, will support the staff and programs offered to citizens of Marathon County.
Work schedule may vary based on needs of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS: This opportunity is for a student pursuing a related degree, or having a demonstrated interest, to obtain firsthand exposure to the criminal justice system.
The student will work closely with Assistant District Attorneys and other staff who are investigating and prosecuting criminal cases as well as providing administrative assistance related to other areas of services provided by the District Attorney's Office.
Excellent computer skill and experience in a fast-paced environment desired.
Duties require attention to details and ability to multi-task.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Scans miscellaneous loose documents and letters.
Prepares and organizes files or items of evidence.
Inputs data, such as file numbers, new or updated information, or document information codes into computer systems to support document and information retrieval.
Reviews existing data and deletes duplication and corrects errors.
Sorts or classifies information according to guidelines, such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order.
Under supervision, compiles and analyzes data regarding criminal justice trends.
Under supervision, compiles reports regarding compliance with statutory requirements.
Reviews audio visual recordings and prepares transcripts or summaries of the information contained therein.
Develops solutions to work issues that add value for our customers.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to multi-task.
Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
Skill in operating office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, and computers.
Knowledge of basic word processing, file and record management, and other office procedures and terminology.
Knowledge of computer software applications and operations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Knowledge of basic filing and recordkeeping principles.
Ability to assume responsibility for established office procedures and problem solve with limited supervision.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
COMPENSATION: $10.
00 - $15.
00 per hour.
No benefits are provided for this temporary summer position.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selection of the successful candidate may be made by assessment of experience and education, criminal record check, oral interview, review of references, and other appropriate job-related selection procedures.
Selected candidate will be required to pass extensive background investigation including finger printing.
