_ *Job Description* *Qualifications* The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* Bachelors’ of Science degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, Human Services, Recreation, Business or comparable work experience * Minimum of 5 years of proven success in a supervisory role in the health and fitness industry, or related field.
* Minimum 3 years of P&L responsibilities over a budget * Certification in CPR/ First Aid/AED required within 60 days of hire *Knowledge & Skills:* * Interested in contributing to the mission, voice and culture of the YMCA.
* Strong written and verbal communications skills * Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Gmail and ability to quickly learn other software programs * Able to multi-task and assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product * Schedule: Available to work evenings and weekends *Essential Functions:* * Ensure revenue expectations and budgeted bottom line for Healthy Living Department is met.
* Supervises Healthy Living Department, Coaches, Group Exercise Instructors and Personal Trainers, including: hiring, developing, coaching, evaluating, managing performance, etc.
along with coordinating schedules shifts, classes, wellness orientations and personal training appointments.
* Meets all assigned program enrollment, retention and quality benchmarks by marketing and promoting the Personal and Small Group Training Programs.
* Supervise the new member orientation process, ensuring members are connected at point of sale and remain well-engaged during the program.
* Develop and implement innovative, high quality, member-focused programs to serve the needs of the local membership base.
* Actively share and create best practices throughout the YMCA.
* Work with Leadership Team to address any member concerns and ensure high quality programs.
* Provide leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees as assigned.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with the community.
* Inspect equipment regularly and ensure that fitness area and equipment is cleaned and maintained appropriately in accordance the Y standards.
* Create and maintain all equipment records and inventory of all department equipment * Organize and assist with special events * Attendance and participation in committee and team meetings.
* Monitor and update all required staff certifications, scheduling and facility needs.
* Audit programs and staff on a regular basis to ensure high quality standards are met.
* Review and certify accuracy of department payroll * Ensure safety procedures are followed and incident/accident reports are filed promptly.
*Work Environment and Physical Demands:* * Ability to walk, stand and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
* Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
* Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds in weight, waist high.
* Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
* Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, climbing, stooping and walking.
* Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
* Must have the physical dexterity to use telephone, computer, electronic equipment, exercise equipment, tools and office machinery.
* Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
*Required Certifications* * Required current professional certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid, PT Certification (ACE, ACSM) *Leadership* * Create a positive and motivational environment for all staff * Serve as a Cause Driven Leader on Duty and/or Director on Duty according to branch schedule * Provide leadership and coaching to department team as well as all branch teams * Ensure program quality is of the highest regard for all department programs * Use data-based decision making for program decisions * Lead monthly staff meetings * Set goals and objectives for all personal training staff to increase budget * Stay up to date on current best practices and programs through the YUSA * Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner utilizing written and verbal communication, including email, phone and face-to-face * Ability to work a flexible work schedule to ensure regular exposure to members and staff at all times throughout the week, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends * Develop new partnerships focused on program expansion and growth around corporate membership and wellness program outreach *Annual Campaign* * Provide leadership for assigned aspects of the Annual Campaign, special events and other fund development to ensure fundraising goals are met.
* Lead Department with Annual Campaign effort for staff and members * Communicate Annual Campaign need through Y stories and testimonials *Lead marketing efforts for all department programs* * Prepare content, marketing calendar and marketing efforts to streamline marketing efforts & communication *Other* * Serve as an exempt staff member to the YMCA, performing those duties as assigned by the Branch Executive Director and or CEO * Actively and enthusiastically support the branch and association goals and directions through effective completion of tasks and verbal display to peers, staff, members and guests * Serve as a member of the branch management team performing specific duties which support the overall success of branch operations.
* Serve as MOD (Manager on Duty) according to branch schedule * Communicate information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
* Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
